There are a lot of reasons why Boston is the Hub of the Universe. Boston can lay claim to being the birthplace of the American Revolution, home of world-renowned universities, and having a homemade ice cream parlor in every neighborhood.

Still, we are not quite content. As Bostonians we can't help but believe that there is nothing that the rest of the world has that we can't top. Other cities might be bigger, flashier, and warmer, but a true Bostonian will always argue for Boston being better.

That's why it makes sense to claim all of the presidents of Mount Rushmore as Massachusetts natives. Or to say that the great pyramids are just piles of rock salt we use to clear the snow. Or that the Grand Canyon was formed by the Big Dig.

Some might call this an inferiority complex. I prefer to call it having a slightly inflated sense of self. Big deal. We have reason to.
